| Damascus blade & pommels -- micarta handle. This was my first knife. I started out by making a full scale model in wood. The distinctive lines on the blade are from the high and low carbon steel. The blade material is made from a bar of high carbon and a bar of low carbon steel heated and folded many times. After finishing, the blade is etched in ferric oxide to bring out the fold lines. I made the sheath of nickel silver and leather. (I also made the pistol holster for 3-gun cowboy competitions). |
